about
My name is Ben. I like to record music. I am now back in the UK with my recently augmented mobile recording rig. I now come armed with British made valve pre-amps, an arsenal of German microphones, several pairs of monitors and all those programs you’ve heard of, like Logic, Cubase, Pro-Tools, Melodyne etc. Check out the gear page to browse my equipment list.
I got into multitrack recording at the age of 16 to record my high school punk band, but soon found that I enjoyed ‘capturing the moment’ on tape as much as I did writing songs. Since then I have recorded string quartets and metal bands, string quartets for metal bands, brass quintets for commercial websites, brass soloists for loop archives, radio plays, auditions and harpsichord recitals. I have set my gear up in churches, basements, gardens, bedrooms, prisons, community centers, manor houses, hospitals and concert halls. Check out the audio page to hear examples of work that I’ve done over the years.
I offer musicality and better judgement with my services. I believe recording should be as enjoyable as performing. I like to exercise my personal quality control over as many stages of the production as the client will allow, because I care how it sounds when it’s finished. I can provide you with separate bounced tracks for you to complete yourself, or the finished product, mixed and mastered.
Check out the songs page to hear my own music, which should prove that I have an ear for a tune as well as an understanding of song structure. I am keen to produce, when recording bands, but know when to sit back and just press the buttons.
